Dr. Páll Einarsson
Dr. Páll Einarsson is a Professor Emeritus of geophysics at the University of Iceland and one of Iceland’s most eminent geophysicist.
Páll’s research interests for example are crustal movements and geodynamics, earthquakes and tectonism and internal structure and dynamics of volcanoes. Páll has done countless media interviews about his research, both locally and internationally. Concurrently with his academic work and teachings Páll has been a consultant to the Civil Protection Department regarding earthquake risk and volcanic hazards in Iceland, an advisor on tectonics on natural hazards to the National Energy Company of Iceland as well as being a member of earthquake risk mitigation panel, established in 1996 by the Ministry of Environmental Affairs.
In 2015 Páll was awarded the Order of the Falcon by the President of Iceland and in 2018 he as awarded the Nordic Geoscientist Award.
