Ásthildur Lára Stefánsdóttir

Ásthildur Lára is a management engineer and a PhD student at the department of engineering at Reykjavík University. She received her BSc degree in January 2019 and her MSc in June 2021 from Reykjavík University. She has been a TA in multiple courses such as math I, math II, math III, numerical analysis, operation research, sustainability and introduction to engineering. Furthermore, she has been a part-time lecturer in Math I for two semesters. Her master’s thesis was funded by Isavia and presented a mathematical optimization model using integer linear programming that generates a feasible staff schedule for the air traffic controllers at Isavia. After graduating in June 2021, she started working at the office of the department of engineering at RU as a program administrator and a TA. She was on the team that arranged student internships for engineering students in 2022. In the spring of 2022 she started her PhD studies at Reykjavík University under the supervision of Dr. Þórður Víkingur Friðgeirsson and Dr. Helgi Þór Ingason. The research will focus on building a reference class forecasting database for larger projects in Iceland.
