Dr. Werner Rothengatter
Prof. Dr. Werner Rothengatter served as Professor of Economics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) until his retirement in 2010. He was Dean of the Faculty of Economics 2003-2004. Earlier he served as Professor for Economic Theory and Policy at the Universities of Kiel and Ulm (1979-1986) and as Head of the Transport Division at the German Institute for Economic Research, Berlin (1986- 1989). Dr. Rothengatter has published widely on transport-related issues, having published 17 monographies (with co-authors) and more than a hundred articles in the field of transport economics and management, covering air, rail and road transport. His past projects have focused on issues of transport pricing and management, spatial development, trans-European networks and mega-projects. He served as President of the World Conference on Transport Research Society from 2001-2007 and was a member of the editorial board of several major transport journals. He is a co-editor of the Springer Series on Transportation Research, Economics and Policy. He has continued to provide consultancy services for various transport-related projects. He was a member of the Standing Advisory Committees of the German Ministry of Transport and of Deutsche Bahn AG and of the Reform Commission for the Construction of Large Projects of the German Ministry of Transport.
