Dr. Helgi Þór Ingason
Helgi Thor Ingason is a professor in the Department of Engineering and the head of the Master of Project Management program (MPM) at Reykjavik University in Iceland. He is also a consultant and a Certified Senior Project Manager and a board member of the Geothermal Training Programme in Iceland, under the auspicies of UNESCO. Helgi Thor finished his PhD degree in process metallurgy from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTNU), a MSc degree in mechanical and industrial engineering from the University of Iceland and a Stanford Advanced Project Management certification from Stanford University. His research fields range from project management and quality management to energy systems. Helgi Thor is the author and co-author of 6 books in English and 8 books in Icelandic on project management, quality management and related fields. His research has been published in such journals as Project Management Journal, International Journal of Project Management, International Journal of Managing Projects in Business, Sustainability and the Journal of Metals and on numerous research conferences. He has served as a management consultant for many organisations in Iceland. Some of his previous posts external to academia include serving as the Research Coordinator of IPMA (International Project Management Association), interim CEO of Reykjavik Energy and also interim CEO of SORPA bs.
